About Steel

I am a born-and-raised northwesterner who relocated to Minneapolis after working at the Gillette News Record in Gillette, Wyoming. After getting my BA in photojournalism from The University of Montana in 2011, I moved home to Portland to intern for the Portland Timbers and the Willamette Week. Later I moved to Seattle, spending more than three years working in photo and video production.

I have more than eight years of photography experience including sports, news, portraits and fine art and have worked in studios and on location with a variety of lighting equipment including Alien Bees, Dyna-Lite, Photogenic, Profoto and Broncolor. I am comfortable shooting with both Nikon and Canon systems.

I am available for freelance photography and photo assisting, as well as video camera operating and production assisting.

My work has been published by: Gillette News Record, Willamette Week, OregonLive, Miami Herald, The Charlotte Observer, Idaho Statesman, Casper Star Tribune, Jackson Hole News & Guide, Portland Timbers, Cody Enterprise, Christian Science Monitor, American School Board Journal, Fisherman's Village Music Festival, Treefort Music Festival, Tacoma Weekly, MLSSoccer.com and Etsy.com.
