Sunday night, after the Seahawks won the Super Bowl, some friends and I decided to go check out the scene in Pioneer Square. The crowd was large, but as far as I observed well behaved. We had moved on by the time the fires etc. started.
The parade was on Wednesday, and my friends Katie, Alicia and I decided to head downtown to catch the action. The bus was packed. They weren't even stopping unless they had to let anyone off. We were lucky to squeeze onto a bus, but many people at our stop got left behind. We got downtown around 10:15, with the parade set to start around 11. We walked around through the crowd looking for a decent place to watch. We finally found a spot that was on the up-hill slope from the parade, which gave us a pretty good vantage point.
Then we waited.
From 10:30 till about 12:15 we hung out in our spot, cold and tired. I managed to snag some photos of the crowd, which was trying to remain active and boisterous despite the long wait.
The parade itself was maybe a bit lackluster. The players all drove by on Army vehicles, waving and cheering to/with the fans. The best part was Marshawn "Beast Mode" Lynch in a full sweatsuit, standing on the front of the Sea Gals duck boat, hurling his signature Skittles into the crowd.
We stuck around for a while after the parade and visited with some friends. We were able to snag a Car2Go and took a traffic-less 99 back to Ballard. We may have had the easiest parade commute out of anyone. (At least anyone who lives outside of downtown.)
Photos 2, 3, 4, and 6 were shot on Alicia's Fujifilm X100s. All the rest were shot on my Sony DSC-RX100.
